Annotated Transcript
MAET at MSU
Below you will find the list of courses I took while attending Michigan State University. They are listed chronologically according to the year and semester that I took them. You will also find the instructors that led the course.
CEP - Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education
KIN - Kinesiology
ED - Education
Fall - 2017
CEP 813 - Electronic Assessment for Teaching and Learning
Instructors: Dr. Spencer Greenhalgh and Colin Gallagher
This course made me think about the foundational theories of the different assessments available in the classroom. I critically examined the different methods for assessment, formative and summative such as portfolios, rubrics, and tests. I have learned how to use surveys to make pedagogical choices. Also, I learned the importance of social media and video games in the classroom.
CEP 820 - Teaching Students Online
Instructors: Dr. Anne Heintz and K. Bret Staudt Willet
I developed a curriculum for a course that could be taught from any place on Earth. I learned and comprehended the different methods of implementing an online course. Through the different strategies, I constructed lectures, videos, activities, and assessments that can be accessed by any electronic device that is connected to the internet. This also helps with students that are absent from school or the school has a cancelation due to bad weather for example.
Spring - 2018
CEP 805 - Learning Math with Technology
Instructor: Dr. Ralph Putnam
I examined the different technologies to teach and learn mathematics with. Through these technologies, we looked at and used multiple representatives of mathematics. I used math in different representatives that can be used in the classroom for any curriculum. I built an online mathematical library that can be used by our peers to install math in their curriculums. This library has pictures, tutorials, animations and games that can be used by teachers and students.
CEP 817 - Learning Tech through Design
Instructors: C. Richardson and K. Bret Staudt Willet
I took an old curriculum and examined how it was designed. I then took different design methods and adapted it to the old curriculum. Through different design methods, animation and graphic art, I updated an old curriculum into a new one. I now know the importance of designing a curriculum. I learned about the importance of an idea, how to incubate the idea to grow it, implement it with testing and making corrections along the way. I used my students at the time to test my new curriculum on, received their feedback and reapplied it to my new curriculum.
Summer - 2018
KIN 829 - Safety and Injury Control
Instructor: Dr. Jessica Wallace
I took an in-depth look at athletes and why health and safety are a concern as a coach on and off the field. We also learned about the injuries that are sustained on the field. This course taught me how to prevent, take care of and manage those injuries. Injuries such as concussions, sprains, rips, and tears. I also learned the importance of an emergency evacuation plan (EEP) is. In this course, I designed an evacuation plan for a weather emergency at the local football field I coach at.
CEP 815 - Technology and Leadership
Instructors: Diana Brandon and Amit Sharma
This course is based around the Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge concept. Through this course, I developed, with a partner, a lesson that ethically and socially impacted education through technology. I learned the importance of professional development strategies. I also organized an event for our peers to develop professionally.
Fall - 2018
CEP 816 - Teach and Learn across Curriculum
Instructors: William Marsland and Sarah Galvin
This course taught me the importance of the integration of technology to enhance the learning environment. I learned how to deliver subject matter with technology and received perspective of teaching and learning with technology. My assignment for this course was to build a brand new lesson plan that integrated multiple forms of technology; from voice over to reading strategies. I learned how images can enhance or hinder the learning process.

CEP 818 - Creativity in Teaching and Learning
Instructors: Andrea Zellner and S. Mehta
During this course, I learned the value and relevance of creativity in education. I dove into multiple perspectives of teaching and creativity. And I studied the different aspects of creativity and how it is linked to education. This course used an existing unit that I had and let me take different approaches to teach it; from looking at from a different view to collaboration.
Spring - 2019
ED 800 - Educational Inquire
Instructor: Dr. Steven Weiland and Dr. Nate Clason
This is an introductory course in the Master of Arts in Education (MAED)/Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program at Michigan State University (MSU). This course is the foundation of the programs and the program is scaffolded up from here. The course provided me the opportunity to think and write about the questions of education. I studied: the essential domains of education inquiry, the philosophy, and history of education, as well as classroom and teacher based research, and the theories of the mind and curriculum. I compared my current teaching philosophies with those of the educational philosophers.
ED 870 - Capstone Seminar
Instructors: Dr. Matthew Koehler and Aric Gaunt
This course was the final course in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program at Michigan State University. This course helped me reflect on my adventure through the MAET program at MSU. I reflected through the creation of an online/electronic portfolio. I had to use the skills learned from my previous courses to create my website. This portfolio is a testament to my achievements at MSU.
